From Alicante Airport to Valencia: how to get there
Published on

There are three ways to get from Alicante-Elche Airport to Valencia. By public transport, you take bus C-6 to Alicante railway station and a Renfe Euromed train from there to València Joaquín Sorolla. By car, you drive up the AP-7 motorway, toll-free since 2020. With a private transfer, the driver picks you up in arrivals and drops you at your address in Valencia. The train is a good choice if you travel light and land during the day. A transfer is the better choice if you land late or travel with children, lots of luggage or a group.
When it makes sense to fly into Alicante
Sometimes the flight that suits you best, by time or by route, lands at Alicante-Elche, even though you're going to Valencia or somewhere between the two cities, such as Dénia, Jávea, Calpe or Gandía. It works well if you plan the last leg from the start. If you arrive without a plan, you end up improvising connections with your luggage in tow.
By public transport: bus C-6 and the train
1. From the airport to Alicante railway station. The airport has no train station. According to Aena's bus page, line C-6 links the terminal building with Alicante city centre every day of the year, stopping at the railway station. Buses leave from the stop on the departures road. Timetables are at the link Aena provides.
On its train and TRAM page, Aena adds that line C-6 connects with the Luceros stop of the Alicante TRAM. That's useful if you're heading along the Alicante coast rather than to Valencia.
2. The train from Alicante to Valencia. Renfe runs the route between Alicante/Alacant station, in the city centre, and València Joaquín Sorolla with Euromed trains. According to Renfe, the first train of the day leaves Alicante for Valencia at 7:15. Check the other times and buy your ticket on renfe.com — it's worth booking ahead.
3. From Joaquín Sorolla to your accommodation. Renfe says it runs a free bus for high-speed and long-distance passengers travelling to or from València, a ride of no more than 5 minutes. According to the same page, the station is open from 5:45 to midnight. From there you continue by metro, city bus or taxi.
The upside: the train is comfortable and doesn't depend on traffic.
What to bear in mind: it's three or four legs, each with its own timetable. If your flight is delayed, you may miss the train you booked. With several suitcases or children, every change counts.
By car on the AP-7
If you hire a car at the airport, the natural route to Valencia is the AP-7 motorway. The section between Tarragona and Alicante has been toll-free since 2020, according to La Moncloa. Before setting off, you can check road conditions on the DGT traffic map.
A hire car makes sense if you'll use it during your stay. Just for the journey, add in collecting and returning it, driving after your flight and parking in Valencia.
Private transfer from Alicante Airport to Valencia
We pick up at airports, ports, stations, hotels and any address, and drive to and from the Valencia area to any city in Spain (where we can pick you up). A transfer from Alicante-Elche to Valencia works like this:
- We meet you in the arrivals hall with a sign bearing the passenger's name. Before the trip we send you the exact meeting point and the driver's phone number (where the driver meets you).
- We track the flight, as long as you give us the flight number (why we ask for it). Free waiting at the airport is 60 minutes from the actual landing (how long the driver waits).
- A fixed price, tolls included, which you see in the calculator before you book (is the price final?).
- Door to door: no carrying suitcases down to the platform and no hunting for a taxi in Valencia.
- Stops on the way if we agree them, for example to drop someone off in another town. Add them in the comment; they may change the price (stops).

The way back: from Valencia to Alicante Airport
On the way back the order is reversed and your flight time sets the pace. By train, allow for getting to Joaquín Sorolla, the Euromed to Alicante and bus C-6 to the terminal, plus the time your airline asks for check-in and security. If any of those legs runs late, your margin shrinks faster than planned.
With a transfer, the driver picks you up at your address in Valencia at the time you choose and drops you at the departures terminal. The driver waits 15 minutes free of charge at the pickup address (waiting time). The day before or on the day of the trip, we send you the driver's name and phone number and the car details by WhatsApp or Telegram (driver details).
Tips
- If you go by train, leave a margin between your landing time and the train. Baggage reclaim, passport control and the bus to the station all take time.
- If you go by transfer, send us your flight number and the exact destination address in Valencia.
- For the trip back to Alicante, book the return from the outbound confirmation: the route is reversed and your details are already filled in (outbound and return).
- If you land in Valencia rather than Alicante, read Valencia Airport to the city centre.
