Valencia Airport to the city centre: metro, bus or taxi

There are four ways to get from Valencia Airport to the city centre. The metro (lines 3 and 5) is the most direct public transport option. Bus 150 goes through several towns before reaching the city. A taxi is waiting at the airport rank. A private transfer is booked before you fly, and the driver meets you in arrivals. If you travel light and land while the metro is running, the metro works well. If you land late, travel with children, carry a lot of luggage or come as a group, a booked transfer is the easiest choice.

Below you'll find each option with the official information from Aena and Metrovalencia, and when each one makes sense.

By metro: lines 3 and 5

According to Aena's metro page, both lines leave from the same station, on the ground floor of the regional flights terminal:

  • Line 3 (Aeroport – Rafelbunyol) links the airport with the city centre, the university area and the north of the metropolitan area.
  • Line 5 (Aeroport – Marítim) goes straight to the centre and on to the Port of Valencia.

Aena says trains run roughly every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 20 minutes on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The first line 3 train leaves the airport at 5:27 on weekdays. At weekends and on holidays the service starts later, with extra trains in the early hours. Times vary by day, so check the ones for your date on Aena's page before you travel.

Tickets. Metrovalencia charges a supplement for the airport stop. Its FAQ (in Spanish) explains that the zones marked with a + sign are the ones used for journeys to or from the Aeroport stop. Current fares are on Metrovalencia's fares page. Metrovalencia also has an information desk in the arrivals area.

Good for: travelling alone or as a couple, with little luggage, arriving during the day, staying near a line 3 or line 5 station.

Not so good for: several large suitcases, small children, or a hotel far from the metro. Between the train and the hotel you'll still face changes, stairs and some walking.

By bus: MetroBus line 150

According to Aena's bus page, line 150 (Valencia – Aeropuerto) links the airport with Valencia city centre, stopping in Mislata, Quart de Poblet and Manises along the way. You can buy the ticket on the bus.

Two things Aena points out:

  • It runs less often than the metro: towards the airport, every 26 minutes on weekdays and every 35 minutes on Saturdays.
  • Times vary by day and direction, and Aena's information for Sundays and public holidays doesn't match between the two directions. Check the operator's official timetable (Aena links to the PDF) before you travel.

Good for: heading to Manises, Quart de Poblet or Mislata, or to a part of Valencia better served by the bus than by the metro.

By taxi

There is a taxi rank at the airport. On its taxi page, Aena lists the phone numbers of the main taxi companies and links to the official fares. The meter sets the fare according to the official tariff in force, so you only know the total at the end of the ride.

Good for: you haven't booked anything, there are taxis at the rank, and you don't mind not knowing the price in advance.

Not so good for: a group that won't fit in one car, needing a child seat, or wanting a fixed price before you leave home.

Private transfer: booked before you fly

A private transfer is a car with a driver that you book in advance for your flight and your exact address. This is how it works with RideValencia:

  • The driver meets you in the arrivals hall holding a sign with your name. We send you the exact meeting point and the driver's phone number before the trip (where the driver meets you).
  • We track your flight. If it's delayed, we adjust the pickup to the actual arrival time. Free waiting at the airport is 60 minutes from the actual landing (how long the driver waits). That's why we ask for your flight number.
  • A fixed price before you book. The price you see in the calculator is the price you pay, tolls included (is the price final?).
  • Door to door, with your luggage in the boot and no changes. You can ask for a child seat when you book.
  • For groups. Sedans for up to 4 passengers, minibuses for up to 7 and coaches with 22, 33 and 55 seats (our fleet).

Good for: landing late or in the small hours, travelling with children or lots of luggage, coming as a group, or simply wanting to walk out of the terminal and into a car without looking for anything.

Tips for your arrival

  1. Check your actual landing time. If you land close to the last metro, have a plan B before you board.
  2. Find your accommodation on the metro map. If you'll need to change lines or walk a fair distance, the metro's time advantage disappears.
  3. If you book a transfer, add your flight number in the booking comment or send it to us on WhatsApp. That way we track the flight and the driver is there at the real time.
  4. Save the useful numbers. Metrovalencia's information line is 900 461 046, as published by Aena. If you book with us, we're available 24 hours a day.

If you land in Valencia and are heading to another city, have a look at our Valencia Airport transfer page: we drive to the coast and to any city in Spain.
